What is an escobar?

Escobar is a surname of Spanish origin, commonly found in Spain, Latin America, and Philippines. However, the name is most commonly associated with Pablo Escobar, a notorious drug lord from Colombia. Pablo Escobar was responsible for leading a cartel that dominated the cocaine trade in the 1980s and 1990s. He was infamous for his violent tactics and was responsible for the deaths of thousands of people, including members of the government and members of rival cartels. His wealth and power made him one of the richest men in the world at the height of his reign. Escobar was eventually killed by the Colombian National Police in a raid on his hideout in 1993.
